International Bird Day

International Bird Day was established as early as 1906.

The aim of the day is to draw attention to the threats faced by birds and to encourage people to commit to their protection. There are about 10,000 species of birds in the world. More than 1,250 of which are threatened with extinction, which is 13% of all bird species!

For countries like Poland which joined the convention as early as 1932 that meant more care and awarness for about 350 ascending species of birds. Birds Day was one of the first international ecological documents to be ever signed. Nowadays we celebrate birds quite a few times per year and in other parts of the world we also celebrate the Bird Day on various days depending on the country.
